Where’s Waldo?by Daneka
Daneka joins our QA department from OpenSky where she was a QA Analyst.
I like to say that software testing is a lot like playing a game of 'Where's Waldo.' The difference however, is that usually there is more than one Waldo and you don't know how many Waldos exist. If you are lucky, Waldo decided to take a vacation instead of gracing you with his presence. More often however, Waldo decides to be sneaky and pops up like a jack-in-the-box at the most inopportune times.
This is the QA life: Smashin' bugs and takin' names!
If someone told me three years ago that I would eventually be working in technology doing Quality Assurance, I probably would have laughed. Never in a million years! In my head, technology as a career choice was only for really smart people, child-prodigy-computer-genius types. Or you know, people who were really into Dungeons and Dragons. Definitely not for people like me who still don't know all the Mac keyboard shortcuts!
But anyway, somehow I found a niche within testing, and finding bugs has not only become a lifestyle, but has also become fun! (Probably not for the developers though.) Every day I get to learn something new, and I enjoy watching projects take shape from conception to final implementation, and all phases in between. It's an awesome sense of satisfaction watching a finished project go live that looks and feels beautiful, when only a few days prior, that same project was visually and functionally busted.
I've only been at Carrot for a bit, but in my first few days, everyone on the team has been super welcoming and Kaitlin is a great mentor! While I can definitely be socially awkward at times, the people at Carrot have been great at breaking the ice and I already feel at home.
I also don't think anyone here will raise an eyebrow if they walk past and hear me humming 'Another one bites the dust! 'Just sayin'.
