On "Grand Plans"by Perry
Flashback to 1996: a mini Perry, age 12, seriously short, seriously full of attitude (sorry mom). In response to "What do you want to be when you grow up," I wrote "Lawyer." Really though? Really?! For some reason, I think I'm a little too off the wall - eccentric if you will - to be successful without causing a riot in the courtroom. Or, maybe, I'd have been a ball buster, who knows. If only Hot Tub Time Machine was more than just a brilliant blockbuster.
I've never been one to have that "grand plan." I'm ambitious as all, but I usually just go with what feels right and make my decisions as they are presented. In fact, one of my life mantras is: whatever happens happens; just go with the flow. Make sure you quote me if you use that phrase.
That worked well, considering that in my mid-20s, I realized I achieved what I wished for, without ever throwing a penny into the well. Several years later and a little over a week into joining Carrot, that statement holds even more true. The moment I stepped in the door here, it just felt right. Why? Well, for many reasons, but most importantly: They. Think. I’m. Funny.
Just kidding (sort of).
Honestly, I've never felt as inspired as I feel when at Carrot. It's the people; it's the electricity; it's everything that IS carrot. I'm confident you're going to see only bigger, bolder things from the team in 2015 and I'm so happy to be a part of the adventure.
This all isn't to say there haven't been massive road bumps in my life, and that I haven't worked my tail off to be here... Just remember, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
May you all find your Carrot.
